A Hike Through the Ages MAY 27, 2008:

- 3 pm Meet at the Mather Lodge breezeway.
Meet Park Interpreter Natalie for a fairly easy ¼ mile hike to the Cedar Falls Overlook. Along the way, we will explore the history of Petit Jean State Park, from the distant past to the present day. Of course, this hike will include a look at the park’s showcase waterfall from above. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Mountain Fishin' Derby for Kids JUN 14, 2008:

The derby will be open to children ages 15 and under. Families are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded. This event is co-sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and local area merchants. Contact the park for start and end times and other details.

In 1923 Petit Jean became the first state park in Arkansas thanks to the efforts of Dr. T.W. Hardison. In 1933, 75 years ago, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) laid the foundation for the park as we know it today. Join us for activities and programs exploring the park's heritage, including the famous riddle hunt. Help keep the state park clean and litter free! Join us for a few hours of litter pickup and be rewarded with a free cookout lunch. Following lunch there will be a prize giveaway sponsored by area supporters. Everyone is welcome, including scouts, church groups, families, and individuals. See Petit Jean State Park dressed in its Christmas finery. Activities, crafts, and seasonal entertainment are planned for the afternoon at historic Mather Lodge. Kick off 2009 with this special event! Join us for two days devoted to our national symbol, the bald eagle. A variety of programs will be offered, including field trips to nearby Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge to look for wintering bald eagles.
